THE SEASONS

  • JUNE - AUGUST & DEC - FEB

Without a doubt the best months for gorilla tracking however it is highly recommend that gorilla permits be booked well in advanced. If you’re looking to safari, in the parks the vegetation is less and animals tend to gather around water sources, making wildlife easier to spot. Even during the high season (June to September) the parks don't feel crowded in Uganda or Rwanda under the frequent sunshine.

  • MARCH - MAY & SEPT - NOV

Although we recommend visiting the parks in the drier months, throughout the wet season the there is still plenty of wildlife including newborn animals. Rates are generally lower and gorilla permits can be easier to obtain. On the flipside, gorilla treks can be a lot more challenging and slippery as the forest floor becomes muddy. Treks go ahead in rain, hail or shine!

Rwanda in depth

Rwanda is one of the most amazing countries in Africa.  Essentially destroyed by the 1994 Genocide and resulting war, Rwanda has reinvented itself as one of the shining lights on the continent in terms of safety, development and places to visit.  Too often it's been associated with a short tour to see the Gorillas but we think this is selling Rwanda short.  You should visit to understand the Genocide and the amazing process of reconciliation and development that has occurred since; see the reinvention of Akagera National Park from near extinction to a test case of modern conservation and meet the wonderful people that have transformed Rwanda in the last 25 years to what it is today.
